We couldn't be any more excited to reveal our juror for the upcoming Frame Moooi Award... none other than designer extraordinaire PHILIPPE STARCK!
You read it right – the talented and internationally-celebrated Philippe Starck will be judging the Frame Moooi Award, which kicks off 1 September when the online application system will open.
The competition is looking for the best furniture and lighting that have been designed for a specific interior. The winning project will be published in Frame Magazine and its designer will receive the grand prize of € 25,000.
When the application period closes on 1 December, the entries will be sent to Starck, who will review each of the projects. His shortlisted candidates will be revealed on 15 March, 2012, and the winner will be announced in April at a special award ceremony at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
Here's a little more on our juror, courtesy of the Starck brand:
Philippe Starck is an internationally acclaimed French creator, designer and architect. This untiring and rebellious citizen of the world, who considers it his duty to share his ethical and subversive vision of a fairer planet, creates unconventional places and objects whose purpose is to be 'good' before being beautiful.
Most of his designs have become cult objects, and his hotels are timeless icons that have added a new dimension to the global cityscape. An enthusiastic advocate of sustainability, this visionary recently developed the revolutionary concept of 'democratic ecology' by creating affordable wind turbines for the home, soon to be followed by innovative wooden prefabricated ecological houses and solar boats. He lives with his wife Jasmine, mostly on an airplane, and between Paris, Burano and on his oyster farm in the southwest of France.
